Overall, Paleo comes Closest
Our ancestors ate a diet of plants, meat and fruit that they could hunt or gather. They did not cultivate beans, starches or grain for later harvesting. In fact, the bones of agrarian ancestors in the past 10,000 years demonstrated poorer health than previous humans.
Whether you are vegetarian or not, add oils, nuts, and vegetables to your diet as much as you can. Look into books such as The Longevity Paradox, by Steven R. Gundry, MD; The Big FAT Surprise, by Nina Teicholz; and The Paleo Diet Book, by Loren Cordain, PhD.
In general, reduce grains (bread, pasta, cereal), starches and processed foods including any sugar as much as possible. Our diet should be mostly vegetables (about 75% of the bulk), followed by fats and oils (40% or more of calories), and then protein.
Organically grown foods are far higher in nutrients, and avoid GMO, Round-up and other toxins of large-scale commercial agriculture. Grass-fed meats tend to be higher in Omega-3 oils; commercial and corn-fed animals are high in Omega 6's. Omega 6 fatty acids are a cause of inflammation when in high ratio.
